Jack Kerouac Allen Ginsberg Lawrence Ferlinghetti Gregory Corso Charles Bukowski Signed Autographed Bongos ITEM SOLD
These bongos have been signed on the skins by beat writers Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Gregory Corso. Gregory Corso drew a fat cat and labeled it such, and signed just his last name. Lawrence Ferlinghetti signed his last name only also. Ginsberg's signature is in felt tip pen, all the others are in ballpoint. There is some fading, particularly the beginning of Kerouac's signature. The literary fan who obtained the signatures frequented many of the cafes and coffeehouses as did these merry pranksters on both coasts, including Cafe Borgia and Cafe Figaro in Greenwich Village, and the City Lights and Peninsula Bookstores in the San Francisco and Palo Alto. The bongos are also signed by just the first name Neil, not sure who that is or if it in any way relates to Neal Cassady. The bongo heads are about 5" and 5 1/2" across, and are about 5" high. They show many signs of use and wear, but are completely intact and playable. A fantastic artifact and collection of some of the major players in the beat movement. If these were but talking drums, the stories they could tell!
