Janis Joplin Signed Album Cover Cut Autograph
This cut piece of an album cover has been signed by Janis Joplin in red felt tip pen. The signature was obtained at the Amsterdam Hotel in New York by Cicely Steinberg, who started collecting autographs in the 1950's. Cicely grew up on Broadway, and spent much time roaming the Broadway theater district and nearby hotels in search of celebrities' autographs. Though she often obtained numerous autographs on a single record album, she was in the habit of cutting out individual signatures for display, which was the case with this autograph. I also have an Otis Redding signature cut from the same album. The inset photo shows the reverse of this piece. This unusually large signature will mat superbly with a photo.
