Astronauts Book Neil Armstrong Buzz Aldrin Michael Collins Signed Twice John Glenn Alan Shepard Dick Scobee Frank Borman Deke Slayton Alan Bean Pete Conrad Gene Cernan Jim Irwin Dave Scott autograph
This is the hardcover book "The National Air And Space Museum" by C.D.B. Bryan. It has been signed on two different photos by Apollo Xl astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins in black felt tip pen. On the one photo shown, Aldrin added the date of the photo "July 20 1969", as well as "APOLLO Xl LMP" (lunar module pilot) after his signature. It has also been signed on the title page by John Glenn Jr, Alan Shepard, Deke Slayton, Gene Cernan, Charles Conrad, Alan Bean, Dave Scott, Frank Borman, Dick Scobee and Jim Irwin. All of these signatures are in black ballpoint pen, except Glenn, Borman and Conrad, who are in blue felt tip pen. Conrad's signature is very light, the felt tip pen was apparently running dry as he attempted to signed. Irwin first attempted signing with the felt tip pen, but as it wasn't working properly, signed a second time with ballpoint, adding "Apollo 15" and a crescent moon. There is also one unidentified signature below the book title, which is thought to possibly be Neil Armstrong trying out the pen, as it resembles the start of his signature. The second picture signed by the three Apollo Xl astronauts is a two-page spread of the Norman Rockwell painting "Apollo 11 Team". The book, published in 1980, was owned for many years by prominent collector and dealer Georgia Terry. The book is over 500 pages, and is in overall very good shape, though it has no dust jacket. A vast array of moon walkers and other notable astronauts in one beautifully illustrated item. As I am only able to post two photos here, I will email other photos, including the second photo signed by the Apollo Xl crew.
